Planning law prescribes circumstances where local planning authorities are required to consult specified bodies prior to a decision being made on an application. IAA Parish Council is one of the bodies specified by legislation known as “statutory consultees”, this means that the Parish Council is required to be consulted by the planning authority prior to consideration of any planning application.
The Parish Council only has the power to comment on applications, the actual decision to approve or reject planning permission is made by the appropriate planning authority typically Amber Valley Borough Council, however in certain situations this could also be Derbyshire County Council.
