The Parish sits within a Special Landscape Area (SLA). It is acknowledged as having one of the finest landscapes outside of the Peak National Park. Perhaps the best way to explore the area is to take a walk along the many paths throughout the Parish or a trip on the Ecclesbourne Railway. From Idridgehay station you can explore the surrounding landscape by following Eadric's Way. If you need some refreshments, these can be picked up from the Idridgehay Village Store.
An election was to be held for the Parish Councillors for Idridgehay, Alton and Ashleyhay on Thursday 2 May 2019. On 11 April 2019 Amber Valley Borough Council's Returning Officer issued Declaration of Result of Poll Uncontested notices for both parishes which can be found here for Idridgehay and Alton Parish and here for Ashleyhay Parish.
